It's Hip to Be Square!

My first quilts were simply hundreds of squares sewn together and tied (...and we're talkin' 1970...before quilting started it's great revival...before quilting magazines and quilt shops...when polyester ruled...when cotton had to be ironed with a steam roller...before it was hip to be a quilter). When I joined the local quilters guild in 1990, I got all excited about log cabins, and triangles...even curves. I forgot about squares...or so I thought. But we play with the arrangement of coloured squares in many of our quilts...Nine Patch, Irish Chain, Trip Around the World, Watercolour Quilts, and such. Now let's play with the squares!

Begin with 4 "quilts" made of 16 squares each (4 rows of 4). Cut and sew, and sew and embellish to make 4 very different mini quilts or use your favorite technique to make a larger project.
