This two block quilt combines the four patch and nine patch in a novel way. Four patch within four patch within four patch, and nine patch within nine patch...the seams inside the blocks match, but between the blocks it's mathematically impossible. The result is unexpected harmony. A twist of the blocks in setting produces yet another illusion. A fun quilt made with only 2 fabrics, but by choosing fabrics with large areas of different shades or colors (like Balis), you can create the look of multiple fabrics. Originally taught as a mystery quilt.
